Why Service a Ride on Car?

Kids electric cars make great kids toys when they are running perfectly. But, just like a real car, if you don't look after them you might just require a tow to your nearest RAWR4KIDS Service Centre.

So why service a Ride on Car? What difference will it make?

Keeping kids safe is our #1 Priority, it should be yours too!

#1 Moving Parts - Motors and Gears

Kids toy cars feature 3-5 motors, each motor then contains 3-6 gears. Most Ride on Cars use Nylon based plastic gears for their motor units. These gears come from the factory with a thick paste like grease applied to them, but this will wear out and gets pushed out of the sports that need lubrications the most very quickly.

If the gears don’t get adequate lubrication, it can cause the plastic to heat up and melt leading to gear slippage or worse a complete self-destruction of the motor units themselves.

Appropriate silicone-based grease needs to be applied in specific places. The grease also needs to be the correct type, to think and the gears will become sluggish, too thin and it won’t help, wrong type and it will eat the plastic.

#2 Electrical - Wiring and Batteries

90% of the time Ride on Car failures are caused by electrical faults. Pests and rodents love to eat the cables, batteries fail, switches break, and safety items like the charger and isolator can fail.

It’s important to have toy cars checked regularly to ensure the integrity of wires and their protective covers/insulation. While 12-24-volt systems generally poses a low risk of electric shock, it's still important to be aware of potential hazards like short circuits that can cause burns, or even fire.

Batteries also fail due to age, impact, chemical degradation and improper charging habits. So, it is important to have batteries tested and ensure they are functional without damage. Leaking or corroded batteries are also a significant risk factor.

#3 Nut’s and bolts

Although it may seem silly, a loose wheel nut can cause the wheel to come off and the Ride on Car to flip over. Ride on Cars have lots of different nuts, bolts and screws that all play a critical role in keeping the car operational. A loose bolt near a battery, or one that was overtightened and cut a cable, although rare can cause a short in the wiring and cause a potential fire risk.
